Medical Cannabis Facilities
Vanderwesten & Rutherford Associates have been the pioneers in providing mechanical and electrical engineering services to the Ontario Medical Cannabis industry, ranging from open grow spaces to medical clean rooms. To date, we have completed or are currently designing more than six projects. Our services and mechanical and electrical upgrades comply with the requirements of Health Canada’s Marijuana for Medical Purposes Regulations.
We have been retained to provide optimization of mechanical systems for both cannabis growth facilities and greenhouse spaces, and mechanical design services for clean rooms. In addition to grow areas, we have been retained to assist owners in navigating when to invest in Central Chiller Plants including: gas fired chillers, hot water driven chillers, electrical fired chillers, and irrigation/boiler areas. V&R is experienced in designing ancillary services for medical cannabis facilities including: bottling/packing areas, warehouse and hot water tank areas, lab areas, drying and trim rooms, staff facilities, shipping cooler areas, and genetic development areas.
V&R has also provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for the conversion of an existing warehouse space into growing rooms, production and packaging areas, office and staff areas. We have recently completed a project for a client that required precision cooling and ventilation for areas with high levels of heat output and high humidity. V&R has incorporated flexible design systems and coordinated layouts to modify them in the future for a variety of set-ups and quantities (growing/drying).
