Kingston Pump House Steam Museum Addition
The Pump House Steam Museum is housed in one of Canada's oldest original water works where steam-powered pumps provided the first running water to Kingston residents in 1851. V&R were retained by the City of Kingston to provide mechanical and electrical engineering services for an addition onto the existing museum. The museum houses roughly 8,148 SF of space with the expansion adding approximately 9,279 SF.
The additional space has new washrooms, office space, workstations, storage areas, a new kitchenette, meeting space, and a loading area.
The mechanical scope of work included:
-New rooftop air handling unit with additional exhaust ventilation
-Domestic water piping and storm piping
-Hot water heater
-Ductwork in the required site areas
-VAV terminal units
-Various rooftop condensing units
-Plumbing fixtures for all washrooms
-Exhaust louvres
The electrical scope of work included:
-Electrical power distribution throughout the new addition
-New electric water heater
-Electronic faucets and flush valves
-New interior and exterior lighting throughout addition and existing building
-Occupancy sensors
-Smoke alarms and receptacles
-Electrical receptacles and data outlets (floor outlets and wall outlets)
