St. Joseph's Catholic Elementary School: Phase 1 & Phase 2
St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School is located in River Canard and is part of the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB). The project was broken down into two phases over 3 years with a maximum budget of $2 million per phase.
This was a complete renovation to the 42,000 sq. ft. school. All classrooms (10 in phase 1 and 8 in phase 2) were fit out with new VRF (variable refrigerant flow) heat-pumps to provide heating and cooling to the classrooms. The new controlled ventilation was achieved with decoupled ERVs (energy recovery ventilators) serving individual classrooms and connected to the return air side of the heat-pump. The condensing units to support the upgrades were located on the roof with self supporting structural stands.
In phase 2, a new RTU (roof-top unit) serving the gymnasium was installed. Phase 2 also included the renovation of two (2) washrooms involving a complete removal and rebuild to suit a new layout, which featured all new plumbing, heating, lighting, and ventilation.
