Aldergrove Public School
Aldergrove Public School is 41,527 sq. ft school located in Markham, Ontario and is part of the York Region District School Board (YRDSB). The project was broken down into two phases over 2 years, the first with a maximum budget of $650,000 and the second with a maximum budget of $1,050,000.
The main objective of this project was to install air conditioning in the school office, library, gymnasium, hub room, and ME classroom 134 including updated variable frequency drives and electrical distribution equipment to support the new HVAC system. Other mechanical and electrical services provided in phase 1 included the installation of mechanical and electrical services for a stackable washer/dryer system in ME classroom 134, new LED lighting including both ceiling a wall mounted lighting.
The second phase of this project largely focused on making the school more accessible. The mechanical and electrical services included the installation of a new gym stage wheelchair lift, updated signage and barrier-free door hardware for the main entrance, office, library and gym. Modifications to the doors also included modifying the door openings to meet the Ontarians with Disabilities Act. Phase 2 also included the replacement of plumbing fixtures and associated plumbing lines.
